Dune Penida PADI 5-star dive centre

Dune Penida Dive Center opened in Nusa Penida in August 2017 under the name Warnakali. From the start, its goal was to reach the highest level of diver satisfaction in safe conditions — and the effort paid off: it joined the list of PADI 5-star dive resorts in Bali in under two years, and after only three years became an Instructor Development Dive Resort. Divers come from all over the world to dive Nusa Penida’s waters and meet the oceanic sunfish (Mola Mola) and the manta rays at Manta Point. But there is much more to see: with the right guide and the best dive centre, you’ll get the most out of diving in Nusa Penida and Bali.

Dune Penida: a unique 3-metre-deep pool

The swimming pool is emblematic of the dive centre’s ambition. Its design meets all the objectives of professional scuba diving courses and fun dives.

An awesome tool for scuba diving initiation and courses

The pool is divided in two. In the shallow part, people who have never dived get used to the equipment and breathe underwater for the first time. The 3-metre-deep part is important for a complete initiation before going to sea, because the first few metres are the most critical for equalising ear pressure. Mastering every exercise in the reassuring setting of a pool means you enjoy your dives at sea even more — it would be a shame to miss out on diving with manta rays because you were poorly prepared.

The pool is also more than 10 metres long, because some PADI courses require it: you develop your basic skills there for your PADI Open Water course and practise some exercises before performing them at sea. It’s also reassuring for refreshing the skills of certified divers who haven’t dived in a while.

Dune Penida instructors know Nusa Penida’s dive sites inside out

Nusa Penida’s dive sites are world-famous, but they’re also quite technical: the currents around the three islands (Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan) can be strong. Diving with an instructor who knows every detail of each site is a real asset — a guarantee of a successful dive where you see as much as possible, in total safety, especially if you’re hoping to spot the Mola Mola.

It’s also a guarantee of successful training, whether you come for a discovery dive, a PADI certification or a more advanced course. The centre recently certified a rescue diver who completed all her training after originally planning only to snorkel with manta rays.

Dune Penida dive centre equipment

New, well-maintained equipment is a key to enjoyable dives, and the centre also carries everything needed for safe diving — including two essentials on board the boat: a radio and an oxygen kit.

Diving initiation in the pool

If you’ve always wanted to breathe underwater but never dared ask, the Dune Penida instructors are at the infinity pool every day between 4 and 6 pm, offering a 30-minute diving initiation to Adiwana Warnakali guests. After 6 pm, the pool is also a great place to relax: perched on a hill above the Lembongan Strait, with Mount Agung to the east and superb sunsets to the west. Even if you don’t want to take the plunge, the place is worth the trip — and the centre runs sunset aperitifs (a pool discovery dive followed by drinks at sunset) that are wonderfully romantic for couples.
