Best Restaurants in Nusa Penida: Where to Eat (2026)

Where to eat in Nusa Penida? After years on the island, here are the 9 restaurants I actually go back to β€” from clifftop fine dining to a grilled-chicken warung where you’ll eat well for a few euros. Full disclosure before we start: I own two of the places on this list (Amok and Warnakali), so I’ll be upfront about which ones β€” the other seven are simply where I eat when I’m not at my own tables. The island’s food scene clusters around three areas: Toyapakeh and the village of Sakti in the west, and Ped on the north coast.

My 9 favourite places to eat in Nusa Penida β€” west coast (Toyapakeh/Sakti) and north coast (Ped).

1. Amok Sun & Cliff Club β€” clifftop dining at sunset

Gamat Bay, Sakti β€” yes, this one is mine. Perched 120 metres above the ocean next to Gamat Bay, Amok is the island’s most spectacular table: international fusion cuisine, signature cocktails, two infinity pools and the most photographed sunset in Nusa Penida. Come for lunch if you want the pool to yourself, or book a sunset table from 16:00. Everything you need to know β€” packages, romantic dinners, DJ nights, how to get there β€” is in the full Amok Sun & Cliff Club guide.

2. Warnakali β€” oceanfront dining in Sakti

Sakti β€” also mine. Warnakali is the restaurant of the Adiwana Warnakali dive resort, facing the sea in the village of Sakti. Tables look straight out over the water β€” the kind of place where you linger long after the plates are cleared. It works beautifully as lunch after a morning dive or as a quiet dinner if you’re staying on the west coast. Hotel guests and outside visitors are both welcome.

3. Penida Colada β€” feet in the sand at Ped

Ped, north coast. Right at the water’s edge on the north coast, Penida Colada is the classic beachside stop: a relaxed spot for a fresh drink and a good meal with the sea a few steps away. Ideal at the end of an island day, when the north coast catches the late light.

4. M Bistro β€” Mediterranean with a view

Heights of Ped. Up on the hillside above Ped, M Bistro serves Mediterranean cuisine β€” a welcome change of register after a few days of island food, with the elevation giving it a lovely outlook over the coast.

5. Warung Jungle β€” lobster and seafood BBQ

Sakti. This is where I go for lobster and grilled seafood, cooked over the barbecue. Simple setting, serious grill β€” if you want one big seafood feast on the island, make it here.

6. Downtown β€” Indian cuisine in Toyapakeh

Toyapakeh. Proper Indian cooking a few minutes from the Toyapakeh harbour β€” curries and tandoori flavours that hit the spot when you’re craving spice.

7. Me Vui β€” Vietnamese in Ped

Ped. Fresh, light Vietnamese cuisine on the north coast β€” the antidote to one fried rice too many. A personal favourite for a lighter dinner.

8. Plaza Marieta β€” the pizza address

Ped. When the pizza craving strikes, Plaza Marieta is where I send people β€” and where I go myself. The island’s reliable pizza stop, also on the north coast.

9. Pondok Bakar β€” grilled chicken, local prices in Toyapakeh

Toyapakeh. A proper local warung: grilled chicken and Indonesian classics, very cheap and very good. This is the address to keep for everyday meals β€” eat like the locals do and keep your budget for the boat trips.

Good to know before you go out

Distances are short but roads are slow: pick your restaurant on the same side of the island as your hotel, or plan the ride. The west (Toyapakeh, Sakti, Gamat Bay) and the north coast (Ped) hold most of the good tables. Book ahead for Amok at sunset β€” the warungs are walk-in. Nusa Penida restaurants FAQ

What is the best restaurant in Nusa Penida?

For a special meal, Amok Sun & Cliff Club is the island’s most spectacular table β€” fusion cuisine 120 metres above the ocean, facing the sunset. For oceanfront dining, Warnakali in Sakti; for seafood, Warung Jungle. (Disclosure: I own Amok and Warnakali.)

Where can you eat cheap in Nusa Penida?

In the local warungs. Warung Bakar in Toyapakeh is my pick: grilled chicken and Indonesian dishes at very low prices. Eating local is the best way to keep your food budget tiny without eating badly.

Where should you eat seafood in Nusa Penida?

Warung Jungle in Sakti, for lobster and seafood grilled over the barbecue. It’s the island’s go-to address for a proper seafood feast.

Do you need to book restaurants in Nusa Penida?

Only for the popular sunset spots β€” book Amok from 16:00, especially in high season (July–August). Warungs and most casual places are walk-in.
