However, you should not expect a traditional waterfall cascading down the cliff. You will only see a small waterfall from the overflow pipe of a water tank, which pumps spring water distributed throughout the island. Guyangan Waterfall is easily accessible, situated a mere 45-minute drive from Crystal Bay or Toyapakeh.

On top of the stairs

A giddy descent to Guyangan Waterfall

Peguyangan Waterfall is an awesome place and holds its success of three factors. First the blue staircase that goes down along the cliff and allows beautiful pictures. Then, the breathtaking view of the cliffs of Nusa Penida island. And finally, down the stairs and after crossing a small temple, a natural pool sculpted into the rock of the cliff. You can cool off after a descent that could be described as dizzying. And above all you can safely face the waves that break on the edge of the cliff. Guaranteed sensations !

Let’s go down !

A colorful temple

You will also see downstairs a rather nice temple. Do not forget to take your sarong because otherwise you will have to rent one at the top of the stairs before going down. I am not sure who is represented by the three statues dressed in blue, white and red. But I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with the French flag. My advice is to leave your smartphones and your stuff before trying to reach them because the stone is very slippery. If you have a waterproof camera or a GoPro take it with you because the photos can be pretty spectacular. Especially if the waves break just in front of you when you are in the last infinity pool, a few meters above the sea level.

Infinity pool

Manta point

Before arriving at Guyagan Waterfall, you will see a sign for Manta Point on the left. When arriving or leaving it is worth taking this little detour. After about 5 minutes you will arrive at a white temple. And behind this temple you will have a beautiful view from the cliff on Manta Point. Dive centers come here because Manta rays come, almost every day of the year, to be cleaned of their parasites at the cleaning stations located there. And if you are lucky you will see them from the cliff ! But the best way to see them is still to come and dive at Manta Point. For example with Dune Penida diving center.

Manta Rays at Manta Point in Nusa Penida

How do you get to Peguyangan Waterfall ?

The road to Peguyangan Waterfall is pretty good now.

From Toyapakeh turn left after the village of Sakti (the right road goes to Crystal Bay). Then you will take the second road on the right and go till the village of Batukandik. You will find the road to Guyangan on your right but it is really better to download Google Map when you have some wifi.Type Peguyangan Waterfall and then follow the indications off line. The drive is around 50 minutes long.

There are many options to combine the visit of Guyangan Waterfall with other places to see.
